JIN Donghan is the incumbent president of Shanghai University. And he was elected as the chairman of the 8th executive board of CSICE in October, 2016.

He obtained his doctoral degree from China Ship Research and Development Academy in 1989. Then He worked in Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Institute as engineer, senior engineer, research fellow, and advisor for Ph. D.. And he was appointed as chief engineer in 2001, and president of Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Institute in February, 2004. He was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in December, 2009.

He is also the vice chairman of the International Council on Combustion Engines(CIMAC), the vice chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology(SAST), the chairman of evaluation committee for National Defense Science and Technology Award in Ship Industry, and the evaluation expert for State Science and Technology Award. He is the director of academic committee for National Engineering Research Center for Offshore Wind Power and the representative of the 12th National People’s Congress. He was once a member of The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) and the chairman of the 27th CIMAC Congress.

He has been dedicated in researching and application of Stirling engine and its dynamic system. He has host over 20 key researching and engineering projects including Shanghai Science and Technology Key Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Defense Pre-research Foundation, Advanced Technology Demonstration and Verification and Major Model Development. He has achieved a variety of pioneering achievement which has already been applied in batches. He has made outstanding contribution to the new generation of special ship technology.

He has won a National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (special class), and a National Award for Science and Technological Progress (first class), three Provincial Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (first class) and four other awards. He has published a monography and over 30 academic papers. He has won Young Science and Technology Award of China, Yong Science and Technology Innovation Award, National Labor Medal，the title of National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Workers, Ho Leung Ho Lee Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, and the honor of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. His teams have won honors including Shanghai Model Worker Group for several times and have been recognized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CCCPC), State Council and Central Military Committee of the Communist Party of China.
