Abstract:Based on the 3D computing platform CONVERGE, a micro-scale combustion model coupling the chemical reaction kinetics of diesel was proposed. And the effects of initial ambient pressures, initial ambient temperatures and slit spacing on the combustion process were studied. Results show that higher ambient pressure, smaller initial ambient temperature, and larger slit spacing leads to greater and earlier peak value of instantaneous heat release rate as well as higher maximum combustion temperature. Besides, the near steady state pressure before combustion determines the occurrence of micro-scale combustion. The micro-scale combustion happens when the near steady state pressure is higher than 0.69 MPa.
