Abstract:In order to measure the friction response between cylinder liner and piston, a cylinder liner-piston dragging system was designed and built for friction measurement using the floating cylinder liner method. The friction and lateral force between cylinder liner and piston at various operating speeds were measured through bench tests, and then a time-frequency analysis using the continuous wavelet transform was performed to the measured data. A theoretical study on the frequency domain information of the measured signals was conducted based on the modal analysis result of the cylinder liner. The results show that the oscillating characteristics of the cylinder liner friction are related to the natural mode of the cylinder liner.
