Abstract:The effects of low-temperature reforming process and reforming products of PRF50 fuel(mixture of n-heptane and isooctane in 50% to 50% in volume) on the combustion and emissions characteristics of a homogeneous charge compression ignition(HCCI) engine were studied by numerical simulation. The results show that the ranges of the initial temperature and pressure of low-temperature reforming of PRF50 fuel are narrow with the increase in the equivalence ratio, and the reaction start point of low-temperature reforming of PRF50 fuel begins to move towards higher initial inlet temperature; moreover, the effects of the initial inlet temperature and equivalence ratio on low temperature reforming process are greater than the initial inlet pressure. The reforming products of PRF50 fuel can advance the engine combustion phase, and decrease the emissions of carbon monoxide(CO), unburned hydrocarbon(UHC) and nitrogen oxide(NOx ). The indicated thermal efficiency is improved by about 3.0%. |
