Abstract:
Focusing on a dedicated hybrid gasoline engine, a numerical model library using CONVERGE software was developed. By employing computational fluid dynamics(CFD) methods, the effects of intake port structural parameters on intake characteristics were systematically investigated through simulations. The results indicate that increasing the angle
Ab between the intake port’s lower edge and the outlet plane increases intake mass but reduces the tumble ratio and the mean turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) at the top dead center(TDC) of compression. In contrast, the angle
α between the intake port centerline and the valve axis exhibits a same regulatory mechanism but opposite influence compared to parameter
Ab. Furthermore, the effect of the intake valve seat height
H on the intake mass is characterized by a strong coupling with valve lift and engine speed. However, increasing parameter
H generally leads to a decrease in both the tumble ratio and TKE at TDC, resulting in uneven TKE distribution near the spark plug.
