Abstract:A three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation model of two-stroke semi-direct injection hydraulic free-piston engine (HFPE) was built by the CONVERGE. The effects of the injection angle, fuel injection timing, chamfer of cylinder head, intake pressure on fuel capture and mixture generation were studied,the results show that as the injection time is delayed, the fuel capture rate and evaporation time increase. As the injection angle increase, the fuel capture rate raise, the evaporation time decreases first and then increases as the injection angle increases. With the appropriate injection angle and injection timing, the fuel capture rate can reach more than 99%. The chamfer of cylinder head has little effect on fuel capture, under the larger cylinder head, the fuel evaporates faster and the fuel distribution in the cylinder is more uniform. As the intake pressure increase, the fuel capture rate and the evaporation time decrease. Compared with changing the fuel injection param-eters, under the same fuel capture rate, the mixture obtained by changing the intake pressure is more uniform, the minimum mixed gas unevenness can reach 0.5.
