Abstract:The model of a diesel engine coupled diesel particulate filter(DPF) built by GT-Power software was used to study the pressure drop characteristics of the DPF asymmetric cell carrier and its influence on diesel engine performance. Results show that as the proportion of inlet and outlet channels of the DPF increases, the soot capacity increases, and the DPF pressure drop decreases. However, excessive increase in the proportion of inlet and outlet channels will make the outlet pore diameter too small, resulting in an increase in pressure drop. When the diesel engine is equipped with a clean DPF, the performance indexes of the diesel engine decrease with increase of the proportion of inlet and outlet channels. However, with the increase of the soot and ash deposition in the DPF, the performance indexes of the diesel engine will improve with the increase of the proportion of inlet and outlet channels. When the proportion of inlet and outlet channels is 1.3, the overall performance of the diesel engine is optional.
