Abstract:Based on the research of the single compression ignition process of a micro free piston engine(Micro-FPE), a physical numerical model considering the leakage gap between the free piston and combustion chamber wall was established, and the correctness of the leakage gap model was verified through the comparative test and simulation calculation. On this basis, the effect of the leakage gap on the work ability of a Micro-FPE was analyzed though numerical calculation. Results show that: compared with no leakage gap, an appropriate leakage gap can improve the work ability of the Micro-FPE, and reach the maximum value at a specific gap. For the Micro-FPE a power of 100 W and the combustion chamber diameter of 3 mm. The indicated work of the engine is higher than that without leakage gap when the radial gap is 2 μm. But with the further increase of radial gap, the combustion pressure rise rate is reduced, leading to the decline of work ability. At last, the Micro-FPE will not be able to burn well and do work normally when the radial clearance is greater than a certain critical value. The conclusion of this study has an important guiding significance for improving the design accuracy of Micro-FPE. |
