Abstract:Based on a diesel particulate filter(DPF) regeneration testing bench with additional heating sources, the influence of a partial deposited DPF on its regeneration performance and heat transfer characteristics were experimentally investigated. The results show that with single region deposition, the maximum temperature and maximum temperature gradient present with high values when carbon black deposits Region Ⅰ in the axial center of the DPF or in Region Ⅱ next to Region Ⅰ, leading to high regeneration efficiency. The regeneration efficiency decreases when a deposited region moves from the center to the edge of the DPF. When carbon black deposits in two regions, the DPF would be easily oxidized, and the regeneration efficiency would go higher if the distance of the two regions is smaller and the two regions are closer to the center of the DPF. With multi-region deposition, when carbon black deposits in other regions than Region Ⅱ, the maximum temperature and the maximum temperature gradient would be relatively lower, but the regeneration efficiency would not be reduced greatly. The regeneration heat is mainly concentrated in the rear center point of the DPF. If the heat is greatly concentrated at the rear center of the DPF, the heat would transfer reversely from the rear to the front. |
